The Jack Wilson U/17 Inter District Competition was held in Garvagh on Sat 7th January in the Jim Watt Centre. This was the 35th year of the competition, sponsored by GM DESIGN ASSOCIATES,Lodge Road, Coleraine and 8 teams took part. In the Jack Wilson Donegal 'A', Ulster League 'A', North West and North Down.Donegal 'A' retained the trophy beating Ulster League in a closely contested deciding match. The outstanding game being the boys doubles which Ulster League pair won 21/20 in the third game.Result : Donegal 16 Ulster League 14, North West 8 North Down 4.
In the Bingy Morrison ,the 4 teams were Coleraine, Donegal'B', Ulster League 'B'and Church of Ireland.The Donegal'B' team proved to be too strong and won easily. Result Donegal 'B' 18,Ulster League 'B' 11,Coleraine 8, Church of Ireland 5.
Mr Bill Gamble ,GM DESIGN ASSOCIATES, presented the prizes and thanked all players and organisers from taking part and helping.He looked forward to being associated with the competition next season
Congratulations to Alison Park and Ciaran Gaile who retained their Ulster Minor mixed title.
24 P7 and Year 8 players hosted Alpha badminton club for a match at Coleraine Leisure Centre on 10th December 2011
Last Saturday (14/1/12) 21 players travelled to Lisburn for the return match. Following the match the children enjoyed a McDonalds. Thanks to Alison Park for driving the mini bus and to Coleraine & District Badminton Association for sponsoring the bus.
Both matches were fairly even with Smashers dominating the girls' games and Alpha the boys'. All the children gained from the experience of playing against different opposition.
